Doctor Visit

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that going to the doctor would be difficult. Well Kyle you showed us just how unprepared we really were. First you peed all over daddy, the floor, the table, and the stool without even taking off your diaper. You are talented! Mommy and daddy forgot to put extra vaseline in the diaper bag so we had to ask to barrow some. Then since you peed on daddy's shirt we realized that next time we also need to pack an extra shirt. Then to top it off you screamed for the rest of the appointment. I think that you were traumatized by the butt thermometer. We felt so sad for you the whole time. Dr. Novy was so nice and didn't mind you screaming the whole time. She said that you looked great. You weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces at this almost one week check up.

First Bath

After we got home from the hospital we gave you your first bath at home and you were mad. You did not like the water on your head at all, as you can see from the pictures you were screaming. this was absolutely a two person job. We love you very much.

Heading Home

It's finally time to take our sweet baby boy home! They kept us an extra day to clear up a little bit of jaundice in your system. Mommy and Daddy loved staying at Banner Desert Hospital besides all the pain, it was like staying in a resort! We can't wait to go back and bring you home a new brother or sister someday. It was interesting to see the reactions of Charity, Sammie, and Callie when you came home too. They were very excited and interested in what you were. It's good to have you home baby boy.

Labor Pains Part 1

Here is our story. If you don't care to read about the graphics of labor then stop reading now! You were warned.

On Sunday morning I was in quite a bit of pain, but decided to at least make it through sacrament. This probably wasn't the best idea because I was in pain the entire time. After church grandma Brown and I went to visit mommy's aunt Melanie, uncle Steve, and cousin Candace. We also went to visit mommy's cousin Leigh and her family. We wanted to see baby Natalie your cousin who was born on May 22nd. Then we went home and watched movies with grandma Brown and Nephi. Mommy started timing her contractions and they were an average of 8 minutes apart. Mommy didn't want to go to the hospital unless it was absolutely necessary though so we stayed at home. Mommy and Daddy went to bed at 11:00pm and when mommy used the restroom at 12:00am I noticed that I was bleeding. Since mommy knows that bleeding is not a good thing I called the on call doctor and he said it could be labor but it might not be. Mommy didn't want to take any chances though so I woke daddy up and told him that we needed to go to the hospital. Daddy drove like a mad man on the freeway to get us to the hospital! Mommy was also making funny comments all night so here is funny comment number one. Daddy: "Does it hurt that bad?" Mommy: "Kenny grab it, squeeze it, and pull it over your head." Daddy will explain what this means to you.

This is going to be a long story so mommy is going to put it up in sections.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Triage Part 2

Daddy parked in front of the doors and we went inside, we had grandma Brown park the van for us. They took mommy and daddy back to triage to check me out and the nurse says to mommy, "Your a rock star for waiting to come in until you were at a six!" Mommy couldn't believe that we were this far along already. The pain wasn't that bad! We called grandpa Brown and told him to get on the road all the way from Maricopa to Mesa. Then they told me that I had to get my IV started. Remember mommy hates needles and usually faints. Thank goodness mommy had daddy to blow in her face or I would have fainted. Once the nurse got the needle in my hand I felt myself begin to faint. I said, "I'm going to faint here I go." The nurse called out for help and three other nurses came running in. Mommy was able to keep her cool.

Waiting Part 3

They rolled my bed into the labor and delivery room and got ready to give me an epidural. Apparently mommy's spine is really deep because the nurse doing the epidural had such a hard time finding my spine that she asked me two times if I wanted to stop! I told her no get this done! Boy once she was done though I felt amazing. The pain literally went away, but the shivers set in! Mommy was shaking uncontrollably, but the nurse said that it was just the hormones. Grandpa Brown finally made it to the hospital when mommy was dilated to a 7. Mommy’s water broke at 5:00am so we knew that you were coming soon. Mommy, daddy, and grandpa and grandma Brown took a short nap because you woke us all up in the middle of the night.

Delivery Part 4

Dr. Beck came in to see us at about 7:00am. He said that he was going to go check on someone else and be right back in. Just after he left your little heart beat started to drop so the nurses tried turning me from side to side and couldn't get it to come back up. Within two minutes of that Dr. Beck, and five other nurses filled the room. The doctor told me that I had to wear the oxygen until it was time to push. He told me to take a deep breath and push, we did that twice then he told me to wait. Then mommy made funny comment number two. “I said I feel like there is something that is not the right size for that area.” All of the nurses and even the doctor had a hard time not laughing. Mommy pushed two more times and out you came. When mommy first saw you I thought there was something wrong because you looked gray. You sneezed and then started screaming. Mommy started crying, don’t worry they were happy tears. I just couldn't believe that God had blessed us with such an amazing miracle. Then they told daddy to cut your umbilical cord, and he almost cut it in the wrong place but they caught him in time. Daddy said it felt like cutting a tire with dull scissors. When they brought you over to me I couldn't stop crying because I was so happy. Mommy and daddy held you and took in the amazing miracle that is you.
